  18. After you install Windows NT over an existing version of Windows, if a
  19. Bitmap (BMP) file is embedded with OLE in Write, the 16-bit version of
  20. Paintbrush may be launched instead of the 32-bit Windows NT version.
  21.  
  22. CAUSE
  23. =====
  24.  
  25. The Write accessory included with Windows NT is still a 16-bit Windows
  26. application. Windows NT Paintbrush (PBRUSH.EXE) in the SYSTEM32
  27. directory is a 32-bit application. When you open the embedded object,
  28. the OLE functionality finds the PBRUSH.EXE in the Windows directory
  29. from the upgrade. Because the Client, Server, and OLE Libraries are
  30. 16-bit, Windows NT searches the Windows directory and finds the 16-bit
  31. version of Paintbrush and launches it.

  36. If OLE functionality with Paintbrush is not necessary in Windows 3.0
  37. or 3.2, rename the 16-bit version of Paintbrush (PBRUSH.EXE) in the
  38. Windows directory so it will not be found by Windows NT. The icon for
  39. Paintbrush in Windows 3.0 and 3.2 can be changed to reflect the new
  40. name.
